A BRIEF HISTORY: LAND & LEGACY

A CENTURY OF IMPACT

Over a century ago, on March 4, 1915, the National Forestry created a Special Use Permit granting 12 acres of the Pike National Forest to Elizabeth “Libby” Byers, founder of the Ladies Aide Society, Denver Children’s Home, University of Denver and what would eventually become the United Way!

This untouched land, nestled inside nearly 1.2 million acres of the Pike National Forest was set aside in perpetuity to serve individuals and families in need, enabling them to find peace and healing in the beauty of creation. There is no end to the majesty, solitude, and refuge that can be found in this sacred place.

 A Legacy of Restoration

For the past 107 years this land, and the associated non-profit, has been stewarded by a handful of individuals. Jon and Julie Wright currently lead this breath-taking and storied piece of American land and legacy, its beauty and it’s purpose.

Nestled in the majestic embrace of the Rocky Mountains, our mission is to provide a sanctuary for underserved people groups, enabling them to intimately connect with the transformative power of nature. We offer a holistic approach to well-being, including activities that nurture emotional, physical, and spiritual growth. Through shared experiences and a sense of community, we foster lifelong connections and support systems.

We are committed to being responsible stewards of the land and measure our success by the transformative stories of those who find solace within our sanctuary. Together, let us embark on a journey of hope, restoration, and rediscovery, where the beauty of the Rocky Mountains becomes a catalyst for change and a beacon of love for all who need it most.

“The privilege to serve in this beautiful Place and Space is hard to express in words! A convergence of our passions for and experience in emotional healing, restoration for the hurting, strengthening those on their spiritual journey, encouraging leadership development and organizational impact. We are awed by this amazing gift and blessed to share it with you!”
